• A Casual Treatise

I have written a casual treatise on the Simplexity Cypher. It describes the cypher in detail and is the definitive source of exactly what the cypher comprises. It is offered here as a web page and a PDF document. (linked to at the bottom of that page)

There is also a link to a Proof of Concept implementation for online testing, after the description, as well as information about a Code Breaking Cracking Challenge and prize award.

• Code Breaking Cracking Challenge 2021

The award offered to anyone who can break / crack an example code dataset has been increased from the original US$100 (one hundred dollars U.S.), and subsequent US$1,000 (one thousand dollars U.S.) as of December 2017, to US$5,000 (five thousand dollars U.S.) as of March 2021.

For more information, see the section on the The Simplexity Cypher – A Casual Treatise page. (or the PDF file linked to there)

• Comments   (Notes, Announcements)

Unfortunately, comments about the Simplexity Cypher have been few and far between. And mostly (unnecessarily) negative and derogatory. Which is apparently a fairly common occurrence in the world of Cryptography. (from both (supposedly) learned and less-learned people) And, yet, none of them have been able to break or crack Simplexity, or really talk to its actual strengths and/or weaknesses with any valid insight or erudition. Most seemed to not be able to understand Simplexity, although that might be due (in part or in whole) to disinterest in attempting to do so. Their loss. As far as I'm concerned, Simplexity STILL stands on its own, and will stand the test of time. I would be VERY surprised if anyone could break or crack any decent implementation of the cypher.

Comments, input, feedback, information, ideas, opinions, knowledgeable contributions, analysis, and constructive critique are always appreciated.

See the comments page to post a comment or read comments, and to read notes, announcements, further information, and events.

• The Future

The Author-Creator is working on a new, extended variation of the Simplexity Cypher that is most likely either equally secure or even more so, and really deserves a separate name of its own. He has named it the horCi Cypher. (pronounced "horsey") The name is derived from its 'species name', a Neighbor Circle (Ring) Rotation cypher. ('neigh' as in the sound a horse makes, with 'Ci' from circle, giving it the spelling and pronunciation as noted, always with a lowercase 'h' and an uppercase 'C' — he created it, so he gets to name it whatever he wants) In some ways it is marginally or slightly more complex than Simplexity, but not unduly so. It is still in development, although basically completed, and just needs to be published, which will occur on this website at some point in the future.

• About the Author/Creator/Inventor/Discoverer

William Donnelly is a creative, an eclectic, and an autodidact. A Coder at heart, he has excelled (+/- ; in his own way) in the area of Information Science, specializing in Computer Science, both as a career and as a hobby. He was a Computer Wiz Kid at an early age, and is now an over-the-hill Computer Wiz Kid. He has been a Computer Scientist for almost 40 years, and is fluent in several programming languages, proficient in several more, and has a working knowledge of, and experience with, many others, from machine language to higher level languages, as well as 4GL systems, scripting (web-based and others), and many database systems. He has worked as a Computer Programmer/Analyst, Consultant, and Software Engineer for nearly 30 years. Highly skilled in most areas of computer programming, he is an expert Problem Solver and a Master Debugger. Cryptology, cryptography, cryptanalysis, and cyphers are minor hobbies. He has a BS from the School of Life, a self-inflicted MA, and a PhD from the School of Hard Knocks. This is a mere smattering of his particulars, but includes those apropos to this project. He lives in northern California, USA.
